A sketch of the desired painting, then the first attempt to paint it. I think I'll try another version soon. This painting is a composite, and therefore hard to make all the images and colors look like they really go together. Same for the hands and shading on the face. Even though I can draw the hands, painting them in color from a black and white is a challenge. Hence the blurry stump-hands.
